Basic Guitar Chords

It always starts from the neck of the guitar, that being the 1st fret and it goes down to the body of the guitar to the 22nd or how many frets the guitar has. Most basic chords are spread on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd fret but there are chords all over the fret board. But just to keep it simple at the beginning, lets learn the chords on the first frets.
In chord diagrams the numbers 1, 2, 3 and 4 are designated to your fingers landing on the fretboard. Number 1 is the index finger, 2 is the middle finger, 3 is the ring finger and 4 is the pinky finger.
If a x is shown on the chord then that specific string should not be strummed. But try it anyways and you can hear why. 0 means it will be strummed but no finger is applied on the string, its just the string from the neck of the guitar that will add to the chords being plaid.
